IAC valves are used to maintain the speed of the engine while at idle. They regulate engine speed by adjusting the amount of air allowed into the intake during idle.
If you have running or idling issues on your EFI machine, the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is probably to blame. In that case, it's usually the solenoid that goes bad over time and does not open properly, causing error codes and erratic running. To check if your solenoid still works properly, it should clicks after you turn the machine off. If it does no longer clicks, it is probably defective. However, even if it clicks, it can still be broken.
